1 Overview

Use this utility to change existing account numbers or merge accounts. The Merge accounts process allows you to move activity posted to one account into a new or existing account and then delete the old account. The Change Account Number process allows you to change the number on an existing account and then delete the old account.
 
To use this utility, select existing accounts one account at a time and then enter the account number for the merge or change. Repeat this until you have a list of all of the account records to be merged or changed. A Validation button allows you to check accounts for errors before creating the merges or changes.

Warning! Use great caution in running this process:

  1. First close other budgetary programs, making sure none are open or running during the change or merge.

  2. This process affects every budgetary procedure when running. No users should be in the system during the merge or change.

  3. In merging accounts, you cannot merge an account of one type into an account of a different type, nor can you merge an account from one fund into a different fund; the account type and fund of the original account and the account you are merging into must be the same.

  4. The process can be time-intensive. Save time by entering all accounts you want to change or merge and process them together.
