A tax district is a defined jurisdictional area where a certain tax rate is applicable to purchases of taxable goods and services. The State Department of Revenue maintains a list of jurisdictional areas grouped by county, with location code numbers assigned to each area. These location codes may be used by a district in setting up its tax districts for use in the calculation of compensating (comp) tax, or the district may define its own tax districts based upon the location of its buildings within the state-defined jurisdictional areas.
The Tax District table stores the tax districts in which buildings within a school district are located. Values in the table come from State-provided lists of tax districts and rates. You need enter values only for those tax districts within which your district's buildings reside.
This function is available only by a district level user with security access to Accounts Payable comp tax table maintenance.
