Use this utility to perform mass hourly wage calculations and updates to the Hourly Wage field located in WESPaC Employee Profile Master on the General tab.
The Hourly Wage field is used to calculate Payroll Unemployment Compensation and sick pay for the WA Quarterly Wage Detail Report. Prior to running payroll or the Quarterly Wage Detail Report, the Hourly Wage field must be populated either manually or by running the Mass Calculate Hourly Wage utility.
The hourly wage is calculated from either contract pay records or hourly pay records. The calculated hourly wage can be either a blended rate derived from valid selected pay records or the highest rate among valid selected pay records and can be rounded to four decimal places or to the nearest penny. For details on the blended rate calculation, see the How-to tutorial. There are two reports generated by the Mass Calculate Hourly Wage utility which should be reviewed prior to allowing the process to update the Hourly Wage field:
The Mass Calculate Hourly Wage Warnings Report lists, for each employee, selected pay records containing pay codes with incomplete or suspicious data along with applicable warning messages. In most cases, the pay records listed on this report are considered invalid according to the selected report parameters and are excluded from the mass hourly wage calculation. The report also lists employees that will not have the hourly wage calculated because none of their pay records are valid.
The Mass Calculate Hourly Wage Verification Report displays selected pay records for each employee along with the old hourly wage and the newly calculated hourly wage. Pay records that are excluded from the calculation per the Warnings Report are considered invalid and are not included in the Verification Report. The newly calculated hourly wage is derived from only those valid pay records appearing on the Verification Report. This information should be verified before continuing the process which will update the Hourly Wage field on the WESPaC Employee Profile Master, General tab.
