Pay Codes identify how employees are paid. Similar employee types are often paid differently, and require different pay codes. Pay is usually referred to as either salary or hourly. Salary refers to a predetermined amount per year as determined by agreement or contract. Hourly refers to a pay amount based on an hourly or daily rate multiplied by the number of hours or days worked.
