Workers' Compensation benefits are calculated for each assignment in a given plan when Generate Plan Detail is run (Human Resources / Salary Negotiations / Calculate / Generate Plan Detail). Benefit data appears in the Plan Results (HPMPLR-RESULTS) table after this process runs.
Washington Workers' Compensation calculations use the following special fields:
Workers' Comp Pay Codes List:
Each Pay Code is associated with a Workers' Comp Code, which matches the work an employee performs with the rate to be paid. Codes may be viewed, added, edited, or printed as a report.
Pay Codes Maintenance may be done from the Setup, Payroll, and Profile areas.
Employee Type Code List (Workers' Comp Average, Workers' Comp Average Hours)
Workers' Comp Average: For Workers' Compensation, salaried workers may be reported using either average or actual hours. Select "Yes" to use the "average method" of computation, where time off hours do not reduce the taxable hours. Selecting "No" results in an "actual method" of computation.
Workers' Comp Average Hours: Enter a value in this field if the average hours computation method is selected.
Employee Type Codes Maintenance may be done from the Setup, Payroll, and Profile areas.
Deduction Code List & Benefit Code List
A Workers' Comp Deduction Code and associated Workers' Comp Benefit Code must be selected in order to perform Workers' Comp Calculations. In most cases the codes will already exist, and you will only need to select a Workers' Comp Deduction Code and make sure that an associated Workers' Comp Benefit Code has also been selected. For Workers' Comp, the amount is protected from entry, as it is calculated during the payroll run.

Click HUMAN RESOURCES.
Click SETUP.
Click CODES.
Click Deduction Codes under Payroll. (Either double-click your selection or click RUN.)
Select the desired code from the Available Deduction Codes display. Workers' Comp Deduction Codes are typically identified with a Code of "WC" and Description of "Workers' Comp", although it is possible to identify them differently.
Click EDIT.
The Deduction Code, Check Stub Desc, and Description fields are displayed at the top of the Deduction Code Entry screen. The type of Active should be checked.
Select an Associated Benefit from the display, or by clicking ASSOC BEN. Grayed fields may not be changed for Current Payroll.
