The Con/Flex tab displays and allows you to view, add, edit, and delete information from an employee’s contract and flexible deductions status. Two special features are included for Washington users:
Contract Hours and Minutes are used for the calculation of retirement service credit and Workers' Compensation hours. If retirement service credit (hours or days) and Workers' Compensation hours are not to be reported to the Department of Retirement Systems or to the Department of Labor and Industries, set the data field to zero. If retirement service credit is to be reported while Workers' Compensation hours should be zero, then do not apply the Workers' Compensation deduction and benefit to the pay item associated with this contract.
Retirement Hours and Workers' Compensation Hours are calculated from the Work Start Date of the contract through the Pay Period Date. Current taxable hours are based upon hours from Work Start Date through the Pay Period Date, less previously paid hours.
A calendar code is required for each contract. The calendar associated with the code specifies the contract's pattern of work, non-work, and holidays. Knowing the contract's work pattern enables the system to calculate retirement and workers' compensation values. The Contracts display includes a column for the calendar code. You may select an appropriate calendar by clicking the Add or Edit buttons.
The Contract Maintenance screen includes an auto calculate feature that alerts you to needed changes if you change values in either the Work Date start and end dates or the Number of Days in the calendar. Making a change and then clicking OK to save it opens the Number of Days Change screen. You are then prompted to select whether you want to Change the Start Date or Change the End Date.
For example, an employee is assigned to a 182 day calendar with specific start and end dates. You change the Number of Days to 181 and click OK. The Number of Days Change screen opens, asking whether you want to Change the Start Date or Change the End Date. Selecting one of these options and then clicking OK causes the start date or end date to change on the previous screen. Alternately, you change the Number of Days from 182 to 180. You are again asked whether you want to change the start date or end date. Making a selection and clicking OK automatically causes the start or end date to change.
