The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) requires districts to send a report for all new or previously employed employees who have been separated for at least sixty consecutive days within 20 days of their hiring or rehiring date. DSHS uses the information to assist in child support enforcement. The reporting requirement is also an anti-fraud measure that will help stop unemployment insurance, workers compensation, and welfare fraud.
Use this process to create a list of employees that have been hired or rehired within 20 days of the hiring or rehiring. A New Hire download file may be generated to send electronically to the state.
Employers using the WESPaC system are responsible for submitting their own New Hire files using DSHS's New Hire Reporting Web page: https://fortress.wa.gov/dshs/csips/newhire. Your Employer Federal ID Number (FEIN) is required to log in.
Instructions for first-time users and answers to frequently asked questions are available on the DSHS New Hire Web site.
