Federal Suspension\Expulsion Report

Release:

Version 04.12.02.00.04, March 3, 2012

Change:

1.     Update the report to calculate the student’s age as of November 1 of the reporting year.

2.     Change the description of item #6 in Section A of the Summary Report from "Mental Retardation" to "Intellectual Disability."

3.     Switched items #5 and #6 in Section B of the Summary Report.

4.     Modify the report to now look at the Suspension Type from the Student Disciple Action record (WS\ST\PR\Discipline tab\Offenses\Action).

5.     Remove the Skyward default template

6.     In creating report template, allow the End Date to be greater than today’s date.

Reason:

1.     The student’s age was previously being calculated as of December 1 of the reporting year.

2-3.  To be consistent with OSPI form.

4.     The report was previously looking at the Suspension Type from the Disciple Actions record (WS\OF\DI\PS\CO\Actions).

5.     The Skyward default template produces inaccurate report.

6.     To allow user to define a report template that can be used throughout the school year.

Change:

Updated the report to use the phone number from the Special Education Contact Information area (WS\SS\SE\PS\CF\SE) instead of the personal phone number attached to the staff identified as a contact person.

Reason:

The report currently prints the staff's phone number marked as primary, which is usually the staff's home number, even if it is marked as confidential.  (FP#236504)

Change:

Updated the Section B of the summary report as follows:

  1. Move the Hispanic ethnicity to item #1 and added a foot note.

  2. Updated the header text from "Ethnic Category" to "Race\Ethnicity."

  3. Rename the "Black\African American" to "African American\Black."

Reason:

To be consistent with the OSPI published form for the Federal Suspension\Expulsion Report.

Change:

  • Modify column 4 of the summary report to include students with in-school suspension only.

  • Modify the online help document for the above change as well as the incorrect path reference in section 12 for the injury related offense field.

Reason:

WSIPC programmed the Federal Suspension-Expulsion report using information from Bulletin B115-06 regarding the counting of expulsions in column 3 and column 4 on the Summary reports. Based on information in this bulletin, the program counts expulsions in both columns. OSPI has since determined that expulsions should be counted in column 3 only.

Change:

  1. Added a new sub-column within column 1 for injury-related offenses.

  2. Modified column 3 to include Special Ed students with out-of-school suspensions and\or expulsions.

  3. Added a new column 4 to include Special Ed students with in-school suspensions and\or expulsions.

  4. Added a new column 5 to include a count of disciplinary removals by number of days.

  5. Added new sections for Gender and LEP Status categories.

  6. Added a new section that reports students who were subject to expulsion during the reporting year. This section includes reporting of both Special Ed and non-Special Ed students.

Reason:

To meet the state reporting requirements for the 2006-2007 school year.

  1. Include the new Ethnic Categories defined by OSPI.

  3. Include actions that resulted in removal to an Interim Alternative Educational Setting (IAES) by school personnel or an Administrative Law Judge determination.

  4. Selection will include all qualifying offences\actions.

  3. Clarification of the requirement to include removal to an IAES.

  4. Selection was only including the earliest offences\actions.

Note:

Discipline action detail is no longer necessary to determine the date of the action. The Action Ordered Date is used to determine if the discipline qualifies for inclusion. Identify the "Suspension Type" on the Action Code and not just the Student Action.
