1 Overview

The Federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) guarantees that all children with disabilities have access to free and appropriate public education. The 1997 amendments to the law include Part B, Assistance for Education of all Children with Disabilities. The amendments provide grants to the states to assist with special education and related services for disabled children.

The IDEA-B Child Count Report is required by the state, and counts the number of children with disabilities, calculated by Disability Conditions and Reporting Age (R-Age).

The report is available in three versions: Summary (which also includes a cumulative report), Detail, and Exception. If multiple Resident District reports are produced, they are printed in this order:

Note: If a resident district has no qualifying students for Summary/Detail and no Exception students, that resident district is omitted from your report versions. If a resident district has qualifying students for either Summary/Detail or Exception reports, the resident district will be included in your selected report versions.
