The section below details actions taken by the school to deal with unexcused absences and the students who have them.

The Attendance Truancy Report counts each occurrence of the specific action or offense codes defined below. The report looks at the first two characters of the code allowing schools to customize their truancy related activities.

  1. The following "Q" Codes can be defined as Offense Codes or Action Codes:

(Note: If "QN" or "QM" are entered as Offense Codes, do not attach a "QN" or "QM" Action Code. If both are used for the same incident, both the Offense code and Action code will be counted).

  1. The following must be coded as "Q" Action codes to be reported. The report looks at the first two characters of the code allowing schools to customize their truancy related activities.

No Action Detail record is required for an Action Code to be selected and counted on the report. Action codes are selected based on the Action Order Date on the Student Action Maintenance screen. The Action Order Date defaults to the entry date, but can be modified to reflect the date the action was initiated.

All actions taken to reduce or eliminate unexcused absences are reported. If the same type of action is completed multiple times for the same incident, each occurrence of that action is included in the action counts shown on the Selected Schools Attendance Truancy Report under the Actions Taken To Implement RCW 28A.225.020 and on the Detail Truancy Report. For example, if a school initiates multiple phone calls or letters to a parent regarding an unexcused absence, each phone call and letter is counted.

  1. Truancy Related Action Codes include the following:

  1. Truancy Petitions must be coded as Offense Codes. Truancy Petition Offense codes include the following:
