Overview

Use this process to view and update individual test scores, with data provided by OSPI, for the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL), Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS), and Iowa Tests of Educational Development (ITED). Typically, test scores are imported only at the district level.

For the most recent year (2004) in which tests were administered, students in grades 3, 6, and 9 take the ITBS/ITED assessments, while students in grades 4, 5, 7, 8 and 10 take the WASL.

Students take the tests in the spring &endash; generally March for ITBS/ITED suite, and April or May for WASL. The tests are first scored by Pearson Educational Measurement, and then submitted to OSPI. Scores are made available to WSIPC after the beginning of the school year, usually September or October for ITBS/ITED, and November or December for WASL. WSIPC then distributes test score files to all member districts for the final import process.

The five steps of the import process:

  1. Test Names (Do only if adding new records)

  2. Test Setup and Maintenance (Do this step only if adding new records.)

    1. Adding Tests

    2. Adding Sections

    3. Adding Rows

  3. File Definition Maintenance

    1. File Definition Maintenance Details

    2. Link to Student

  4. Crosswalk Maintenance

  5. Import Test Scores

Note: As of as of February 2004, WSIPC has provided all setup data to allow for the import of ITBS/ITED and WASL test scores. Before running the import process, each district must validate the import file name and the link to the student record (see Step 3).
