Step 4: Crosswalk Maintenance

Crosswalk Maintenance is the final step required before importing test scores, and is necessary to "join" file definitions and test definitions. WSIPC has provided the necessary Crosswalk data in order for you to import ITBS/ITED and WASL test scores. The following information is provided simply for your reference.

  1. Select STUDENT MNGMNT and the district entity.

  2. Click ADMIN.

  3. Click ASCII IMPORT.

  4. Click Crosswalk Maintenance under ASCII Import, Test Score Import Utility. Either double-click your selection, or select it and click RUN.

  5. The Crosswalk Maintenance screen opens.

    1. The following 2004 test score crosswalks should already exist; if they do, your data setup is complete and you can continue with the actual import of the test scores.

  1. Click ADD if you need to add a new crosswalk.

  2. The Test Score – Crosswalk Master Maintenance screen opens:

    1. Enter the Crosswalk Master ID, Crosswalk Master Description, and Crosswalk Explanation from the above table.

    2. Click FILE DEFINITION MASTER. Select the File ID from the list that matches the name of the Crosswalk you are creating. Select your selection and click SELECT.

    3. The result is that Test Name Codes, Test IDs, File IDs and Crosswalk Master IDs are all identical.

    4. The I/O Type defaults to Import.

    5. The Available Tests are displayed for reference only in the bottom half of the screen.

    6. ClickOK to save your changes.

  1. The bottom section of the Crosswalk Maintenance screen displays Crosswalk Detail. All fields with "Skip Field = No" in the File Definition Maintenance section of the joined test appear. The Field Nbr column is the order of the field within the defined file layout.

  1. If you need to edit Crosswalk Detail, select any field. Click EDIT DETAIL.

  2. Click LINK TO STUDENT if you need to change the field number in the import file used to uniquely identify the student. The value should be "3".

  3. Since neither the ITBS/ITED nor WASL import files specify a test date, leave the Link to Test Date field as "0". The Date Format is not required; simply accepting the default is fine.

  4. The rows in the Crosswalk Detail Maintenance screen will match the fields with "Skip Field = No" in the File Definition Maintenance screen. This screen provides a method for ensuring that the import file field definitions match the data to be imported.
