Step 3B, File Definition Maintenance: Link to Student

There will be one field in each test scores import file that uniquely identifies a student, used by the Import Test Scores program to find the proper student in the WESPaC database. All current ITBS/ITED and WASL import files have defined the third field as that link.

There are three possible WESPaC fields that the import file can link to: Student-ID, Other-ID, or the MN-EDE-NBR (State Student Identifier or SSID). Each refers to database columns (fields) in the student table (record). Student-ID is the primary key of the student table and is automatically generated when a student is added into the WESPaC database. Other-ID is the student identifier that is converted from Legacy; it is no longer used as the primary key in WESPaC, but is maintained for referential integrity to the Legacy system. SSID is generated by OSPI to identify a student.

2004 ITBS test scores (grades 3 and 6)

If your district ran the Pre-ID Extract as a Legacy client, the identifier in the test score files will be Other-ID. If your district ran the Pre-ID extract as a WESPaC client, the identifier in the test score files will be Student-ID.

2004 ITED and WASL test scores (grades 4, 5, 7, 8, and 10)

Whether your district ran the Pre-ID as a Legacy client or a WESPaC client, the identifier in the test score file will be MN-EDE-NBR (SSID).
