Summary
If a student’s state equivalent grade level is 7 or 8, the student’s vocational FTE is calculated if the Vocational Counts and Report option is selected on the P-223 Parameters screen.
The student’s current year information is read from the Student Class table. If a course is vocational, records are found where the system date is in the range of the start and stop dates for the class, and the class has not been dropped, is not historical, and is not Running Start.
Next, the system determines the section of each vocational class in which the student is enrolled and adds the minutes associated with each section. The student’s calculated vocational FTE is the total minutes of scheduled class sections divided by the maximum minutes for the grade level, as defined by OSPI.
Next, the calculated vocational FTE is compared to the student’s percent enrolled for the entity.
If the percent enrolled is greater than or equal to the calculated vocational FTE, the calculated vocational FTE is used for the reported vocational FTE.
If the percent enrolled is less than the calculated vocational FTE, the percent enrolled is used for the reported vocational FTE.

The calculated vocational FTE is determined by dividing the total vocational class minutes by the maximum minutes defined by OSPI for the student’s state equivalent grade level:

The calculated vocational FTE is compared to the student’s percent enrolled (student-ew.percent-enrolled) for the entity.
If student-ew.percent-enrolled is GE the calculated vocational FTE, the calculated vocational FTE is used for the reported vocational FTE.
If student-ew.percent enrolled is LT the calculated vocational FTE, student-ew.percent-enrolled is used for the reported vocational FTE.
Summary Report
Individual student FTE values are added for appropriate Summary reports in the section for Vocational 7th and 8th Grade Programs.
